Elays Network Madrassa Press Release
Multakah El Huffadh

As part of the Amal Trust vision is to work collectively with madrassas to improve standards and achievements in terms of memorizing the Holy Qur'an and Islamic studies.
In association with Elays Network Madrassa Amal Trust held its first series of Multakha El Huffadh at Elays Network Madrassa in south London on the 24th February 2008. The session was very successful and was attended by many people both youths and parents.
The session started with a verse from the Holly Qur'an delivered by one of the youths and was followed by a key note welcome from Mr. Mohammed Ali the headmaster of Elays Network, to the Amal Trust in assisting Muslim Youth to learn the Holly Qur'an and for making this project available for madrassa's
This session amid to target the following:
A) To encourage parents and the community to play their role towards the education of our youths.
B) To develop Tajweed skills for the Huffadh
In his speech the chairman of the Amal Trust Mr. Hashim Charif emphasized the importance of memorizing the Holy Qur'an and also stressed that parents and teachers have to work shoulder to shoulder to raise up the standards of our Madrassa's. The session was followed by Tajweed lesson conducted by Mr. Hashim Charif which improved the student's standards.
The topic was designed as a series of training which will assist madrassas during this academic year. Amal Trust would like to extend its thanks to their members who contributed to this session especially Mr. Tayeb Sherif head of Education Committee and Mr. Hussain Ghafoor head of Media Committee.

8th UK National Qur'an Competition

association with the Holy Quran Memorization International Organisation and the Muslim Cultural Heritage Centre, the Amal Trust held its 8 UK National Qur'an Competition on the 22nd and 23rd of October 2005.This competitionas attracted over 290 candidates across the United Kingdom.The competition was held at the Muslim Cultural Heritage Centre inLondon. examiners from major Islamic Centres across the UK as well as QuraasAl-Azar Al-Sharif in Egypt were invited.contest follows an organised procedure where all contestants were placed into different categories according to the amount of Juzu they have memorised (Hifdh) and they were also tested on (Tajweed) the rules of recitation. All candidates were under the age of 25. Sponsors of the event included Khans Restaurant of Bayswater, Islamic Relief UK, Halal Food Authority, London Prestige Hajj and Ummrah, and Universal Hajj and Ummrah. The following are the winners of the five main categories and the prizes awarded.

Launch of the Multaka Al Hufadh - National Forum of Hufadh

The Amal Trust has taken the initiative to set up a National Forum of Alhufadh (people who memorise the Holy Quran). This forum was launched on Wednesday 15th June 2005, at the Muslim Cultural Heritage Centre in central London.
The launch was attended by a panel of Sheikhs and Imams, as well as Al Hufadh from across the United Kingdom. The aims of this Multaka Alhufadh are;
To develop the skills of people who memorise the Holy Quran
To provide guidance and training skills
To provide a platform for like minded individuals to meet on both a social and an educational level.
The launch of the National Forum, also gave those attending, the opportunity to visit the Islam Exhibition. This museum style exhibition offered a host of multi media presentations which together creates a fascinating insight into Islams origins, history, tenets, values and arts.
The first programme to be offered by the National Forum of Hufadh is an Al Hufadh Training Seminar which will be hosted by an International Scholar during the last week of July 2005. More details will be available nearer to the time.

Weekly Arabic Course for Beginners

In association with the Muslim Cultural Heritage Centre (MCHC), the Amal Trust Light of The Youthhas launched its weekly Arabic Course for beginners. This course is held every Thursday at AL- Mannar Centre between 7.00pm to 9.00pm. The course has attracted over 25 people from different community backgrounds including new reverts and others are still on waiting list.
Arabic language is known to be one of the increasingly important languages. This course is designed to develop the skills of people who are interested in learning this beautiful language. The need for a simple guide to assist adult English-speaking people, who seek to unravel the complexities of Arabic and its grammar, has long been felt. This course has thus been designed for this specific purpose and it aims to satisfy this need. The course will cover the following main areas: reading comprehension, writing, listening, and conversation skills. The course consists of three different levels, split into numerous units and includes three tests. This course is open to both men and women aged 19 and over. The 28 units of the course cover various areas of day-to-day life and essential topics that enables the student by the end of the course to undertake Arabic A-Level exams.
opening class was very successful with good attendance levels. Extremely good feed back was given by the students and according to some student's testimony, they said This course is exactly what we need and what we were looking for; the teaching method is excellent, we are sure we will be able to speak and understand in no time.
