Organisational structure
of Amal Trust

The diagram below povides the
internal structure of the organisation.
It consist of a Board of Trustees, a
Board of Patrons and a Youth Wing
called Light of the Youth.

The Amal Trust (Light of the Youth LOY) is a youth organization established in 1997 to help the wider ethnic minority communities, irrespective of their nationality, race, ethnic origin and religious beliefs, to access educational, social and recreational services that had hitherto been out of reach.
Today in the UK, young people from all backgrounds are faced with many challenges from negative aspects of the society. These include: crime, family breakdown, drugs, poor education, racism, religious discrimination etc. Therefore it is vital that the above issues are addressed appropriately to create a generation of young citizens who will contribute towards the future prosperity of the nation.


Our Vision

  • To provide young people with a focal point for a range of social, cultural and educational activities.
  • To develop greater self-confidence through providing a sense of belonging.
  • To affirm a cultural identity and plurality.
  • To allow the youth to be at one with itself in order to ensure smooth integration and to play a greater role in the promotion of good community relations and the advancement of a multicultural society.



Aims and Objectives

  • To assist in fulfilling the religious, educational and social needs of people who are or have been in prison and relieve and rehabilitate prisoners in the United Kingdom.


  • To assist with religious, educational and social needs of people who have come to the UK as refugees.


  • To co-produce opportunities of career and personal development by devising educational, cultural, social, economic, religious and recreational programmers’ for young people.


  • To bridge the social and cultural gap between young people, for smooth integration into the wider society.


  • To campaign and address issues related to racial and religious discrimination


Scope

The main focus area of Amal Trust is the UK particularly London. To work in close partnership with the statutory, voluntary sector and organization from Europe and other parts of the world involved in this work.




Affiliations and Membership

Amal Trust is an affiliated member of the following organizations; Union of Muslim Organizations UK & E.I.R.E (UMO), Clinks Prison Community Links, London Muslim Coalition (LMC), Independent Police Complaints Commission (IPCC), Federation of European Muslim Youth Student Organisations (FEMYSO), Muslim Safety Forum (MSF), United Against Racism (U.A.R), London Civic Forum (LCF), and Feltham Young Offenders Community Chaplaincy, (IIFSO) the International Islamic Federation of Student organization, Foundering Standards Board (FSB), National Charity, Community Organization (NCVO) and Fundraising Standard Board (FSB) .
